Srinagar, Mar 28 (KNO): In wake of the deadly Coronavirus pandemic, the restrictions across Jammu and Kashmir continued on Saturday with people across the India observing lockdown for the fourth consecutive day to prevent the virus from spreading.
According to wire service—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), authorities imposed strict restrictions across Jammu and Kashmir for the 11th straight day in the Union Territory.
Witnesses said that police and paramilitary troopers were deployed on roads in strength to enforce the restrictions in Jammu and Kashmir.
Besides, the local Masjids and shrines across Jammu and Kashmir remained locked for the second straight day following the authorities ordered closure of all the religious places as precautionary measure to prevent the virus from spreading.
Moreover, the authorities continued to act against the people who are involved in violating the restriction orders under section 144 CrPc. Reports said that over 300 people have been booked so far across Jammu and Kashmir for violating the government orders, saying that many among them have been arrested.
In Srinagar today, Police have arrested a shopkeeper for violating the Government prohibitory orders over COVID-19.
Officers in the jurisdiction of police station Nowgam arrested a shopkeeper identified as Sajad Ahmad Wani resident of Bunpora Nowgam, Srinagar for violating Government prohibitory orders. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody.
A case under FIR number 34/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Nowgam and investigation into the matter has been initiated.
Meanwhile, police and administration have appealed the people across the Union Territory to follow the government prohibitory orders in order to prevent the spread of Covid-19 and those who are violating the restriction orders will be dealt strictly – (KNO)
